PERUN Gen 2
Overview
Project PERUN GEN 2 is our biggest student rover. PERUN is an abbreviation for Planetary Exploration Rover with Unmanned Navigation. It is a nearly 70 kg beast that is not scared of rough environments or complex tasks. It has an arsenal of tools and sensors to help it take on any challenge. Designed and built entirely by the CTU Robotics team.

Robotic Arm
The 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF) Robotic Arm (RA) mounted on the rover is a custom-built, high-performance manipulator designed to perform advanced maintenance and dexterous manipulation tasks in unstructured terrain. It integrates perception, control, and robust mechanical design to meet the requirements of the ERC 2025 competition. The use of 3D-printed high-performance nylon parts (PA12) provides shock absorption, reduced weight, and structural resilience during transportation and operation.

Chassis
The skeleton of the rover is the chassis. It consists of the steel frame of the rocker-bogie suspension with 6 wheels and the main box from aluminium profiles and protected by variety of plastic materials. The box's design gives team a lot of modularity to work with when designing everything that is attached to it, from electronics to robotic arm.

- 800 m
- Payload
- up to 35 kg

Electronics & Embedded
Electronics on board can be measured by kilograms and if software weighed something, it would be too. Electronics and software are among the fastest-changing parts of the machine: they give the rover its computing power and bring it to life. It can be controlled by an operator or by its own autonomous system, which the team keeps developing.
- Power supply
- 48 V, 24 Ah
- Main computer
- Raspberry Pi 5
- Cameras
- 4 × stereo
- Communication
- Wi-Fi, radio

04
Drill tool
The sampling system is designed to collect samples of Martian regolith or dirt. In competitions, it is required to sample up to 30cm into the ground measured by colored sand. Drill tool has a motorized auger bit, automatic closing lid and containers for storing samples. A precise weighing sensor is part of the design.
- Drilling depth
- 30 cm
- Mass
- 6.6 kg
